About Jr. Luggage

Grandma, Ella and Dad travel to TaiwanOur obsession with luggage began with a recent trip to Taiwan. From door-to-door, the trip took 32 hours. Our daughter, Ella, six years old at the time was an incredible trooper and we discovered she is also an amazing traveler. No flights were delayed, our seat were correct and overall, the trip was a success. Our only frustrating experience was dealing with Ella’s poorly constructed suitcase. Prior to the trip, we took Ella to a big box store to pick out a suitcase that Ella thought was “cute.” Little did we know how annoying this suitcase would become on such a long trip.

We got our first hint of problems when Ella packed her suitcase and we discovered it would constantly tip over when the handle was raised. Re-distributing the weight helped but did not solve the problem.

Another lesson we learned is that six year olds need supervision when packing or at least a thorough review of what was packed. The initial packing job contained almost entirely toys, stuffed animals and books. After sorting through the essentials and allowing for a couple toys, her suitcase was completely full. The rest went into our suitcase.

Our journey to Taiwan had begun. We discovered that an independent six year old likes to carry their own suitcase and will constantly open and close it to take things in and out. During a layover in San Francisco, her zipper became stuck. After several futile attempts to fix the zipper, a quick tug resulted in the zipper seam splitting. We now had a suitcase with a five inch opening. Fortunately, it was still useable. Another problem we discovered on this trek were the horrible wheels. They were tiny plastic wheels set close together. As a result, the suitcase would frequently flop to the side when being pulled and was noisy on hard surfaces. With all the potential problems on such a long international trip, we never anticipated that our biggest frustration would be with our daughter’s suitcase.

PassportWe retired the suitcase when we returned. Several months later we began looking for a better quality suitcase. Some looked great but were poorly made. Some had nice wheels but fell short on quality fabric and zippers. The search was turning out to be quite difficult. We settled on a small suitcase meant for adults but the handle was too long for Ella. We loved our adult sized suitcases but could not find anything comparable for our daughter.

In the end, we felt there was a market need for a premium kids suitcase that was built with uncompromising quality and made to last. Since we were starting from scratch, we took the opportunity to build in features that are truly unique such as the replaceable, light-up wheels and insulated water bottle side-pockets. After nearly a year of product development, we feel that we have finally developed the ultimate suitcase for kids. We back our suitcase with a Lifetime Warranty as well as a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
